New England Aster
Beautiful New England Aster blooms late in the season and is an important nectar source for pollinators as they go into winter. In full sun or partial shade, it tolerates a wide range of soil conditions. A great New York plant!
Swamp Sunflower
Thriving in full sun with moist to wet soil, up to 8′ tall Helianthus angustifolius provides habitat for fireflies and many other species.
“Standing Ovation” Schizachyrium scoparium
A tall formal grass offering three seasons of color (blue – red/orange – gold). More upright and with thicker blades than bluestem, it provides firefly habitat and the seeds for birds.
Purple love grass
Purple pink at summer’s end, this grass creates a beautiful landscape. It is an important butterfly host and provides firefly habitat all season.
