Larger groupings of native plants support more pollinator life cycles. Our large pollinator pack provides plants that thrive in a range of conditions, full-partial sun and moist-wet soils. Ideally, there will also be a large oak or other native tree in your yard near your pollinator garden. Button Bush
Small white spheres bloom most of the summer attracting many different pollinators. Come Fall, the fruiting bodies feed birds. This full-partial sun wetland shrub (12’x8′) also creates cover and nesting habitat.
Black Chokeberry
Want to attract more birds? This smallish (3′-6′) mounded shrub produces white flowers followed by small berries loved by birds. It grows best in partial shade with moist soils.
Butterfly Weed
Bring on the butterflies! Species of Butterfly Weed or Milkweed are larval host plants for the Monarch Butterfly. Their exotic looking leaves and large seed pods also create architectural interest in the winter garden. Plant in full sun.
Blazing Star
A wand of fringy purple-pink flowers bloom from mid-late summer on this pollinator favorite. Plant in full-partial sun in moist to wet soils.
Bee Balm
Ever versatile Monarda species are almost requirements of any pollinator garden. Bees, butterflies, and birds all benefit from the nectar.
What is a sedge?
Grass-like perennials to use as green mulch between other native plants. Sedges can also replace grass for no or low mow lawns! Carex pensylvanica or Oak Sedge is tolerant of many conditions (Full-partial sun, medium -moist soil) and was one of the top performers in the Mt.
